Robert Moran (CHS) receives mayoral proclamation from the Honorable Albert Kelly, Mayor of Bridgeton, NJ

On Diabetes Alert Day (March 22), the American Diabetes Association (ADA) encourages everyone to take the ADA Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

The Diabetes Resources Coordination Center (DRCC) for Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties in New Jersey, which is managed by CHS, participated in the nationwide awareness event.

The Cumberland County Health Department offered free glucose and cholesterol screenings at the event. CHS staff administered the ADA Risk Test for adults, which consists of eight questions covering such topics as weight, age and family history.  Staff was on hand to provide more information about diabetes to those who participated in the screening.

The Honorable Albert Kelly, Bridgeton’s mayor, issued a Mayoral Proclamation declaring March 22, 2016 to be Diabetes Alert Day. An accompanying Certificate of Commendation was presented by Darlene Barber, Deputy Freeholder Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Cumberland County.

Local TV station Southern New Jersey (SNJ) Today covered the event which aired on their 11:00 pm news broadcast.
