Overview

As a member of the Cumberland/Salem Regional Consortium, CHS administers this program directed toward southern New Jersey's large Hispanic community. In partnership with the Salem County Vocational Technical School, we provide English literacy services and civics education to foreign-born adult learners in Salem County. While learning English, program participants can receive vocational and other life-skills training as well as prepare for the U.S. naturalization test.

Key Activities

• ESL instruction for all foreign born adult learners at various levels of English language proficiency
• Civics instruction intended to help build a more personalized knowledge of U.S. history, governance, and democracy
• Assistance with preparation for the U.S. Naturalization test
• Training in job skills and strategies
