The Center for Human Services (CHS) was established as a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization in 1968. Since then, CHS has worked through grants from private organizations and federal, state, and local governments to implement programs aimed at improving public health, education, and social services, particularly for under-served populations within the U.S. and in developing countries. As the non-profit affiliate of University Research Co., LLC (URC), CHS shares URC’s staff, facilities, and capabilities.

In the United States, CHS has served hard-to-reach, disadvantaged, and at-risk populations for 40 years with high school equivalency training, vocational education, bilingual education, English as a second language, and health promotion programs.

Internationally, CHS focuses on making proven health technologies accessible to under-served and vulnerable populations through service delivery programs, development of sustainable health systems, and field research.

Across borders, CHS' strategic objective links our experience in the U.S. and internationally to programs that meet the needs of Hispanic communities both north and south of the border. Our Hispanic-Latino Initiative addresses education and health promotion for Hispanic communities in the US and promotes development in the immigrants’ countries.
